Kite surfing is – as in many other countries – a new sport in Denmark. Even as recently as 1999, there were only a few hundred kite surfers worldwide. But interest is steadily increasing and in Denmark, too, you will see more and more kite surfers on the beach.

Kite surfing requires lots of space – but that’s not a problem in Denmark, where you can easily find a suitable beach.
A good kite beach has: - Plenty of starting room for the kite - Sand - Unobstructed wind - Few people on the beach - Not too many windsurfers - An onshore wind.
Do not try kite surfing from beaches with many people, beaches with big stones, trees or overhead electricity cables. Watch out for children – they often find kites fascinating.

Kite surfing is not as dangerous as paragliding or hang gliding. But it is more risky than windsurfing. It is very important that you follow the safety rules associated with the sport and take safety extremely seriously. If you take care and use your common sense, the risk of an accident is very small.
